Dead Body Saves Me A Traffic Ticket

I was pulled over last night by one of Lethbridge's finest near the Tim Horton's on Scenic Drive for having a burnt out headlight. I knew it was burnt out so I had my fog lights on in an effort not to get pulled over. I also noticed while he was running my plates that I was not wearing a seatbelt. I may have taken it off after he pulled me over, I can't remember. He never mentioned the seatbelt or my burnt out brake light.

I gave the officer my drivers licence but failed to produce a valid insurance card. I do have insurance but the card was expired (that is a ticketable offence in itself).
All of a sudden he gives me back my licence and tells me he has to leave because his partner has a dead body on his hands and needs assistance so he let me off with a warning.

I was dumbfounded that he actually told me I was getting just a warning because he had to attend to a dead body. I am not even sure if I believe that was the truth. During the time the officer was at my window I did not hear any radio contact with his dispatcher to inform him that he was needed elsewhere. Maybe his dinner break was coming up, I will never know.

I likely would have a successful defence in court against a headlight ticket (because of my fog lights) but would have no defence against a failure to produce proof of insurance.

To the person that supposedly died,

It must suck that your dead but your timing could not have been better for me.

Thank you.

Yay! And only what? Four more months til more taxi stories? :) This was an interesting one though. As if he would say he is responding to a DB? Pretty crass. Shoulda told him it was probably from a hit and run the way drunken jay walkers run across the street into oncoming traffic. Matter of fact they should be on the look out for any cars with burnt out headlights resulting from such a collision. hmmm.

Why do you have to bash Lethbridge's finest... When you need really need them you won't be bashing them. Stop stalking people and you won't hate Lethbridge's finest!!!!!!!!!

I was very honest with this post and had no intention of bashing the police. I do not hate the police.

Sure I took a jab with my dinner break theory but who cares.

If you read my older posts I have required the police service's on multiple occasions and they have always done a great job.

Stalking people? I don't have a clue why you would say such a bashful thing!!!!!!

The point of my post was that I was happy to be let off with just a warning.

You are reading between the lines too much in order to accuse me of bashing the police, which is simply not the case.
