To the Mexican (I think) chef that could not find a hooker; What were you going to do if we found one? Bring her home to your wife?

Random

Hey Don from the Coalbanks. I think you need to change your diaper or underwear and stop drinking so much. My cab smelled like rotten shit for over an hour even after a good dousing of air freshener and Lysol. Three trips later I had a guy comment to his friend "Man, did you just shit yourself?".

Thanks a lot asshole.

Downtown Lethbridge

Something bad happened near the XXXXXX, pretty much next to the XXXXXX Inn. Police had the scene taped off and the CSI van was present.

XXXXXX Gang Beating

Apparently this guy got in a fight in the liquor store and beat up the other guy. When he came outside the store he was beaten up by all the other guys friends. As the police arrived on the scene he managed to gain consciousness and get up off the ground. You can see the manager of the liquor store trying to protect the scene, he is holding the bat like object.

Random

This strange lady was in her late 30's or early 40's and had an 18 year old son.

Me: "Is that a cat in your backpack?"

Her: "Yes I hope that's ok."

Me: "Yeah that's fine. Where are you off to?"

Her: "I want to go to Studio 54."

I start driving and about half way there...

Me: "So are you actually going to take the cat into the bar with you?"

Her: "What have you never seen a girl with a pussy in the bar before?"

Me: "Not a girl with two, I guess now you can go around and ask all the guys if they want to rub your pussy."

Her: (Silent)

Me: (Wondering if that was appropriate)

So we arrive at the bar

Her: After pulling her money out of her bra "Damn these big boobs come in handy sometimes"

Me: "They sure do"

Highway Rollover

It looked as though a few vehicles were involved in this crash. Apparantly the person whose vehicle rolled into the ditch was trapped under the vehicle and died while being removed.

XXXXXX Villa Fire

I could only post the ones that were under 100 MB.
This fire occurred Monday November 17 at approximately 3:00 - 3:30am. The fire department evacuated the building and the residents were taken by a city bus to an unknown destination to spend the night. From what I could tell at least a few units in the apartment were damaged.
On a related note and from the Lethbridge Herald Wednesday, November 19, 2008 (unnamed author):
"Grow op discovered during fire investigation
Two people are facing drug charges after a small marijuana grow operation was discovered while fire officials were investigating a blaze at Winston Villa apartments on Monday.
Members of the fire department discovered the grow op in one of the neighbouring suites located in the apartment complex. A search warrant unveiled 37 marijuana plants in the early stages of growth, along with 115 grams of packaged marijuana and a butterfly knife.
Ashley Miedema, 26, and Jarrid Gfrerer, 24, both of Lethbridge are charged with production of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The pair is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge provincial court Dec. 19."
If my math is correct that is around a quarter pound and they will probably receive a suspended sentence.

Flustered Care Worker

I picked up a mentally challenged man and his care worker at the Movie Mill and apparently he had become aggressive and the decision was made to leave the theater (or they were asked to leave, I am unsure) .

The plan was for me to drop the woman off at the care home and take the guy to the hospital, while the care worker followed in her own car. It seemed to me as though she did not want to be driving with him alone, which is understandable.

Once we get to the care home the guy is upset and tries to hit the female care worker. She assertively said "that's enough" and he sat back in his seat. It was not like he tried to punch her, it was more of a waggly flailing of his arm towards her.

She was really unsure of how to handle the situation and was calling everyone to try to find her supervisor for advice on how to deal with the situation. The care worker saw no need for the guy to go to the hospital and he would not get out of the car.

She finally got a hold of her supervisor and comes to my window and tells me that he can only go to the hospital under police escort. She then asked me to do whatever it takes to get him out of the car. I really have never dealt with a mentally challenged person before and was unsure of how he would react. During the previous ten minutes or so he sat in the back seat and really never said a word or did anything, but he wanted to go to the hospital and no where else.

I hesitated and finally turned around and sternly said "listen, we are here and we are not going anywhere else, it is time for you to get out."

At this point he kind of freaked out, he had been so calm up until I told him to get out and he called me a bitch and slammed the door as hard as he could and stormed off. I gave the cute care worker a smile and she smiled back. She then mentioned how she needed to find another job.

You really had to be there, it was one of the most entertaining ordeals I have ever witnessed.

I mentioned what happened with another driver and he said he had seen them a short time later at the hospital and the police were there as well.

I felt bad for the care worker because she continued to deal with this man after I was gone. I also felt bad for kicking him out of the cab. I do not know of his medical condition but it made me realize how lucky I am not to have to live like that.

The Negotiation

I flagged a trip from Ezzies tonight and three young women get in the cab. I could tell from their accents that they were foreigners but never did find out where they were from. The conversation went pretty much like this:

Girls: We want to go to Boss Hogs (the newest country bar in town).

Me: Boss Hogs it is (and start driving).

Girls: Has anyone ever given you a blow job while driving a cab

Me: Well not exactly (for lack of anything better to say and to see where the conversation went)

Girls: What about a hand job? Is there anything we can do for you to get a free ride?

Me: There are lots of things you could probably do.....

Girls: What if we all show you our boobs?

Me: That might work

...One of the three girls said she wanted no part in showing her breasts to me. But the other two said they would and seemed enthused about it...

Girls: So if us two show you our tits you will give us a free ride?

Me: If I can take a picture

Girls: No, you can not take a picture but I will let you feel them (she sat up and started rubbing my chest and said "see, just like this"

Me: Ok I guess I could go for something like that

So we arrive at the bar and the two girls pull down their low cut tops and give me full viewing pleasure. I never went for a feel until she said it was ok (lets not forget these are my customers and I do try to be a gentleman lol). I did as was told and fondled the girls breasts.

All in a days work and the total fare the girls would have had to pay $5.50.

They were not drunk as far as I could tell and were just looking for a little excitement. I think I got most of the excitement out of that one.

Cab Driver Stabs Four People

I almost forgot about this incident that happened at the Corner Pocket in Lethbridge a few months ago.

Man in custody after quadruple stabbing

Jamie Komarnicki, Calgary Herald

Published: Saturday, March 15, 2008
One man is in custody after a quadruple stabbing in Lethbridge early Saturday morning.
Four victims were taken to hospital after receiving non-life-threatening stab injuries at Corner Pocket Billiards at about 1:30 a.m.
All were later released from hospital.
The stabbing took place in the parking lot of the bar.
Police say the incident doesn't appear to be random, and stemmed from an escalated verbal dispute.
Ahmed El-Meadway, 45, of Lethbridge, is facing nine criminal charges relating to the incident, including four counts of assault with a weapon and three counts of assault causing bodily harm.

..........................................................

Apparently this was the owner of Luxury XXXXXX and he freaked out on the bartender, a bouncer, and two patrons of the bar, stabbing them all.

I remember the next day after it happened I picked up the bouncer who had gotten stabbed and he said that if he wasn't as large (fat) as he was it could have been a life-threatening stab wound. I was surprised that he was back to work the next day, bandages and all.

...............................

I believe as of today the bar is still offered for sale at $1,600,000. This asking price was reduced $150,000 from the initial asking price on the mls commercial listings.

Saturday Night

Some random events of this somewhat interesting evening.

I picked up this woman from XXXXXX, which is surprisingly not a strip club. Before we leave her friend comes running out of the bar and tells me that she is going to kill me if I do anything to my customer (her friend).

My Customer proceeds to tell me how her friend just killed himself and that it was his funeral today. She was drunk at this point and wanted to stop by XXXXXX Sports Bar to see if any of her friends were there. We arrive and I am hesitantly convinced to accompany her inside as her friend/date. We go in the bar and look around and she starts feeling me up in front of pretty much everyone. I am sober (obviously) and am looking around the bar and it seemed like everyone was looking at us.

It was interesting yet awkward and I can envision her friend telling me she is going to kill me if I did anything with her and we left soon after. We arrive at the woman's home and she wants me to come inside. Number 1 thought: her friend is going to kill me, #2 she is drunk, #3 she is married, #4 just no.

.......................................................................................................................................................................

Do not forget your ID.

I picked up a few students from the residence at the Lethbridge College. We arrive at the XXXXXX when one of the girls realizes she does not have her ID. I ended up driving them all back to the college and then back to the bar with every ones Id's. Total extra cost: $35.

.........................................................................................................................................................................

My night ended as a witness to a senseless assault outside of the XXXXXX in front of a XXXXXX hot dog stand. Two males were pretty much facing off. The victim of the assault was just standing his ground and did not provoke any sort of attack. The assailant apparently bought the victim a hot dog and the victim did not want it. The assailant became enraged and put the hot dog on the ground. He kept telling the victim to pick up the hot dog.

At this point I have a prime time view and begin video recording (I just knew something was going to happen, something always does). The victim finally reaches down to pick up the hot dog off the ground when the assailant kicks him in the face hard. The victim fell to the ground unconscious and I phoned for an ambulance. When he finally woke up he did not recall getting kicked in the face and didn't really seem to care. He was drunk and definitely needed medical care and taken away in an ambulance..

Now I have another fucking police report to fill out, which ended my night early. Not to mention I have to come down to the station so they can get my video evidence.

It seems like every weekend there are police at or around the XXXXXX and assaults are common place. Only tonight have I had a prime view of just how senseless these attacks are.

.....................................................................................................................................................................

From a few nights ago:

A teenage white male was stabbed in front of the 5th avenue MM XXXXXX by a gang of XXXXXX teenagers. I believe native should be capitalized but I refuse to show such respect.

.........................................................................................................................................................................

I picked up a XXXXXX male tonight from the hospital, which is not uncommon. Sure enough the hospital (taxpayers) are paying for his ride to the shelter. Along the way he tells me it is my job to convince to shelter workers that he should be able to stay there. Normally everyone is able to stay at the shelter but he tells me he is banned from there.

I was not impressed. My rant I never said: "You piece of shit drunk, you get kicked out of the shelter, most likely for being a drunk piece of shit, you have no job and you receive free care from the hospital facilities. You receive a free cab ride on the tax payers dollar only to ask a tax paying citizen to fight for your case to be able to stay at a shelter, where you are banned from, go fuck yourself".

So I ended up pleaded his case to the shelter worker. I can not just let someone spent the night outside, no matter how much I hate their lifestyle. I believe he was allowed to stay the night. The Lethbridge Shelter is definitely overcrowded and you drunk XXXXXX better get your shit together because more well deserving individuals require your bed.

........................................................................................................................................................................

Lesson Learned

So when a staff member comes out of the XXXXXX (bar) and gives you money to take someone home, refuse the trip and drive off immediately. I accepted the trip and had to stop a couple times to let the young woman puke her guts out. I had to clean up a little bit after her but at least nothing was left on the seat and only required a spray at the car wash. No more bar paid trips!

I have had enough for the night.

Bad Decision After Getting Ripped Off

I received a call to XXXXXX South at around 1:45am. I arrive and a XXXXXX guy gets in and tells me to go to XXXXXX West. He is drunk (as are a lot of my customers at this time of night). His name was XXXXXX and he was wearing an orange polo shirt and a dark coloured hat.

We arrive at the address and I wake him up and tell him he owes me $18.10. He tells me he has to get the money from inside. At this point I get that feeling that this is not going to end well.

He stumbles up to the front door and I hear a honk from a car. Apparently his drunk friend passed out in the drivers seat of his car in the driveway and was trying to get his attention.

I soon learned that neither individual has the money to pay me for the ride. It is not the first time I have been stiffed for a fare and began suggesting alternative measures such as collateral and so on and so forth. They are both drunk and the one guy says "we have a very reasonable cab driver here". The less drunk XXXXXX piece of shit comes back and hands me his tax exempt treaty card and says "that should cover it, eh". I say "no I need something worth more than the fare to ensure future payment".

Long story short they began speaking to me with a racist tone "this white guy thinks he is getting paid" followed by laughter. I took a lot of abusive language from the soberest drunk XXXXXX during the negotiation phase of the incident before deciding to get the police involved.

I requested the police at around 2:00am.

Long story short I waited over an hour for the police to arrive and decided to keep the meter running (against my better judgement). When the police arrived the fare was $68.10, of which I owe the company 52 percent of.

The police officer arrives with a student from the Criminal Justice Program. I explain the situation and the officer says "we can not get a warrant to enter the residence if there is a back door". I am not really sure what the back door has anything to do with getting a warrant but I guess maybe they could have escaped the house.

The officer repeatedly knocks on the front door and I knock on the window trying to wake up the passed out XXXXXX piece of shit on the couch.

Anyway, I should have cut my losses at $10 approximately and proceeded to make money during bar rush (which I missed most of) instead of waiting for the police to arrive and not get paid anyway. Not to mention the extra $25 out of pocket I had to pay for keeping the meter running while waiting for the police.

In total after shelling out $35 for the fare I was not paid I lost out on approximately $200 in additional fares. The total loss for me amounted to approximately $140.

I know this story is a bit all over the place; mostly because I am still irate at the entire situation.

During the repeated knocks on the front door by the officer one of the drunk XXXXXX bastard pieces of shit answered the door and now the officer has entry.

To end this post and get to bed the officer ended up arresting XXXXXX and of course I want to press charges after all this bullshit. XXXXXX is off to the drunk tank. I have a blank police statement to fill out and get back to the officer with. I also am expecting a summons to appear in court.

You better believe I will show up in court and plead my case to a judge and ask for the maximum sentence (which I believe could be as high as a $500 fine).

I believe that I now have no recourse to collect on the fare except for perhaps a small claims court judgement.

What a waste of a Saturday night bar rush. I have had enough with these XXXXXX pieces of shit and took a stand in a civil manner. I was more than enthused to ensure vigilanty justice was accomplished but that feat was not undertaken ... yet.

Two accidents in one day

Both were pretty minor at speeds between 3-10km/hr.

Accident 1 : I hit a curb. I looked ahead at the sidewalk and it had a rounded edge. Where I tried to park and pull up on the sidewalk a bit it was square so I hit it with the front end and caused paint and minor body damage. I wrote up an accident report and the company pretty much said because I was honest about reporting it they would not make me pay for the damage (hurray!).

Accident 2 : I stopped behind a vehicle at the Roadhouse and the vehicle in front of me reverses and the back end of the other vehicle clears the front end of the taxi and is now in the wrong lane when he swings the front end of his vehicle right into the front of the taxi. Bang. No real time to react to that one (not really sure what he was trying to do either).

The funny thing about accident 2 is last night I flagged the owner of the car who hit me from University Drive. He gets in and tells me he has to go to a certain bar. He proceeds to tell me how he just fucked this woman and bolted from her place when she went into the bathroom. I can only imagine the woman coming out of the bathroom to find her "date" gone. I have no reason not to believe his story. He recognizes me and tells me about the accident from the week before and wants to settle. I passed on the new info to the owners.

Elderly Lady Robbed Downtown

I was driving my own vehicle downtown about a week ago when this old lady flagged me down in front of the XXXXXX bank on 5th street S.

She told me someone stole her purse and her car keys. I didn't have my phone on me (stupid me) and could not really help her. I asked what they looked like and she gave me a common description and the direction they went. I told her she could phone the police at the payphone across the street.

The direction the guy ran in was towards the alley behind the XXXXXX. I drove down the alley and there was a gang of XXXXXX outside the back door. I drove by slow and did not see a purse. I was not about to question them about it either. I probably would have been robbed and they would have stole my car.

The following is the itinerary for a XXXXXX criminal living in Lethbridge Alberta. Please note that this is not an itinerary for XXXXXX people, but XXXXXX criminals.

7:00am - Four day peyote trip wears off
7:01am - Sleep
7:02am - Wake up to police asking why I am sleeping in the park downtown and have pissed and shat myself
7:30am - Arive at the police station in the patty wagon with all my other buddies
10:00am - Given a hot breakfast and fresh clothes
12:00am - Released because of over crowding. (Welfare checks were issued the previous day and many are completely wasted drunk and rounded up and they need the room)
12:30am - Cash my welfare check
12:45am - Hit the XXXXXX Liquor store on 6th ave and 5th street, buy a Big Bear beer,
12:46am - Drink the Big Bear beer
12:47am - Back to Lethbridge Liquor for another Big Bear beer
1:00pm - Hit the XXXXXX to find some crack and maybe a hooker or two
1:01pm - Fuck a hooker while she hits the crack pipe (think: damn your good)
1:20pm - Back to the XXXXXX and get in a fight with four horns donky lover wolfchild
1:30pm - Buy another Big Bear beer at XXXXXX Liquor
2:00pm - Get weed from the drug dealer living at the XXXXXX
3:00pm - Steal something from a pawn shop
3:10pm - Pawn stolen goods at another pawn shop
3:15pm - Get transportation from the nearest Elementary School before class ends and steal some little kids bike
4:00pm - Cruise downtown and try to make a couple drug deals
4:01pm -Get a Big Bear beer from XXXXXX Liquor before drug deals
5:00pm - Pass out drunk behind XXXXXX Liquor store, or wherever is close by
10:00pm - Wake up
10:05pm - Get Big Bear beer from XXXXXX Liquor and head downtown
10:15pm - Notice someone riding the bike you stole fair and square from the elementary school and give chase
10:20pm - Give up on chase and puke out guts, (think: if I were at the police station or in jail I would get something to eat.)
10:30pm - Rob some poor old lady in her car in front of the bank
10:35pm - Empty contents of purse and discard anything not of value
10:40pm - Blend in at the XXXXXX as to not get caught as easily
1:30am - Get thrown out onto the street before closing time because I pissed my pants and smashed a Big Bear beer bottle on the floor
2:00am - Buy a lot more crack (think: when is the next welfare check coming)
3:00am - Cruise the neighborhood looking for easy scores
3:30am - Get stabbed behind the XXXXXX for asking and elder to suck my dick
7:00am - Wake up and think: all in a days work, I wonder what good deeds I shall do today.

I guess I got off topic about the old lady getting robbed. The police arived shortly after and I think the Lethbridge Herald said she was 83 years old. I felt bad but she should have had more common sence to know not to withdrawal money downtown at 11:00pm alone.

Taxi Spy Cam

So I have been doing a little investigating into whether or not I am legally allowed to put a video surveillance system (with audio) in a taxi to record events that transpire throughout the night. I have spoken with the Staff Sergeant on duty (through a third party) of the Lethbridge Police Service and was told that unless the company installs the camera I would be violating the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).

What does the company installing the camera have anything to do with it being legal or illegal? I am a contract driver and receive no paycheck or compensation from the taxi company. I pay the company to operate a vehicle. I have my own business licence and can claim expenses so why can I not choose for myself whether or not a recorded video surveillance system is appropriate?

I briefly spoke to three lawyers today and none of them would really provide me with a definite answer. They pretty much said they did not think it was a problem unless I distributed the content of the video (which I disclosed I was intending on doing). A certain lawyer referred me to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta where I was able to find more information on the FOIP act and more specifically the "Guidelines for Overt Video Surveillance in the Private Sector".

http://www.oipc.ab.ca/ims/client/upload/Video_Surveillance_Guidelines_20080306_e.pdf

"Private sector privacy laws require that organizations’ need to conduct video surveillance must be balanced with the individuals’ right to privacy, which includes the right lead their lives free from scrutiny. Given its inherent intrusiveness, organizations should consider all less privacy-invasive means of achieving the same end before resorting to video surveillance. "

Commenting on the above it would be hard to lead a life free from scrutiny if someone at your office found a video of you picking up drugs and hookers in a taxi.

From my understanding of the guidelines it would be legal to install video surveillance in a taxi but the video must not record audio and must be properly destroyed soon after. Also people need to be informed that they are on camera.

This is all fine and dandy for security purposes but not for the purpose of distributing the content of the video (such as on this blog).

I think the only way I would be able to post videos of taxi rides would be to have oral or written consent from the passengers at the time of the recording. The Personal Information Protection Act states: 8(1) An individual may give his or her consent in writing or orally to the collection, use or disclosure of personal information about the individual.

I think it would be difficult to convince someone who has probably done something illegal or completely stupid to consent to the distribution of the recorded video. I would be scared to ask.

Consequences: From the Privacy Protection Act

"In addition, the act allows for fines of up to $10,000 for individuals who:
• willfully collect, use or disclose personal information in violation of the privacy protection part of the act,
• make a false statement to, or mislead the Commissioner, or his officers or any other person under the act,
• fail to comply with a commissioner's order, or"

In conclusion: Some laws are meant to be broken, maybe not this one.

CALLAGHAN GARRETT ROBERT CALLAGHAN

CALLAGHAN GARRETT ROBERT CALLAGHAN, beloved companion of Mackenzie Becker, of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 10, 2008 at the age of 21 years. A Celebration of Garrett's Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Cremation.

This must have been the guy that was killed in the head on collision on highway #3. Apparently from rumours I have heard he was not intoxicated but somehow was driving on the wrong side of the highway when an oncoming vehicle struck his van. I believe he was the only one involved in the collision who died. Apparently two other people were airlifted to Calgary but survived. I also heard that children were involved but their child seats prevented them from injury.

Head on Collision

Apparently a 21 year old male was killed in a head on collision on the number 3 highway within city limits at approximately 11:30 Friday October 10th. Of course the Lethbridge Herald doesn't even run an article on it because they are run by Mormons and anything bad that happens in Lethbridge is not newsworthy.

$40 Blow Job

I picked up this guy from the XXXXXX Pub and he was intoxicated. He wanted to get a hooker. I asked over the air if any drivers had seen any girls working and where they might be. I was told by another driver to head downtown. So we get downtown and onto 5th street and stroll by the XXXXXX and the XXXXXX. You are pretty much guaranteed to find a hooker around there. I could not see any girls and asked over the air where the other driver was talking about seeing them. I could see him parked in front of the XXXXXX Bank and he told me to pull in behind him.

I pulled in behind him and out jumps this blond native women and she strolls over to talk to my customer. In the meantime three other girls are walking by and the one caught my customers attention. The conversation went pretty much like this.

Customer: Want to make some money?

Hooker: How much you got, eh?

Customer: I have $40.

Hooker: What do you want for $40?

Customer: I want the whole thing baby.

Hooker: You are not getting that for $40.

Customer: How about a blow job then?

Hooker: Sure (and she got in the cab).

In the meantime the first hooker starts bitching that he was her customer and that the other hooker stole him from her and she started freaking out about how the other cab driver told her to come talk to my customer and make some money and that she wasted her time. I am really wondering what the hooker was doing with the other cab driver downtown at 2:00am. The other cab driver claims to know what all the hookers nipples look like and comments on them often.

So I start driving and they want to do it in the back seat. That's the last thing I need is a cum shot on the back of my neck from some drunken idiot. I said no and took him to where he was staying. There was absolutely no conversation between the hooker and him and it was strictly business as usual I am sure.

Piece of Shit Ernie

ROOM 235 – ATTENTION XXXXXX INN RESIDENTS AND GUESTS. A CRACK DEALING PIMPING GUIDO IS SLEEPING AMONG YOU.

YOU PIECE OF SHIT CRACK DEALER. WHERE IS MY MONEY? DO YOU ENJOY MANIPULATING AND STEALING FROM HONEST HARD WORKING STUDENTS?
IF YOU TOLD ME YOUR REAL NAME, OTHER THAN ERNIE, I AM SURE I WOULD FIND INFORMATION THAT YOU ARE A CONVICTED PEDOPHILE.
............
I FORGOT TO MENTION: GO FUCK YOURSELF

.......

Long story short I ended up lending this guy money out of my own pocket expecting to receive interest on the loan. I knew this guy for about three weeks and knew where his parents lived and I figured he was good for it. I was wrong.

I do not know for sure if he is a crack dealer and he probably is not a pedophile. He is no longer staying at the XXXXXX Inn. I needed some closure on the issue and was/am very pissed off. I went around town and posted about 40 of these posters around the XXXXXX Inn and at various major intersections around town. Not surprisingly, about 75 percent of the posters were removed within 48 hours, most notably around the XXXXXX Inn. I posted one on his parents garage as well.

The formatting and layout could not be reproduced on blogger - due to text boxes (I assume) so what you see is not quite how it looked.

Can you tell I was pissed off? It took me around 2 hours to find the right spots and put up my message. I finally have some closure.

In addition he actually only owes me $60, but that is besides the point. It is the principal of the matter.

Mr. John

I get a call to a residence.

Me: "How are you doing tonight?"

Him: "Good, do you smoke crack?" (I can not believe that would be the first question someone would ask me, a complete stranger)

Me: "No!"

Him: "Oh, (long pause)... me neither"

Me: "Well that's good, crack is bad for you."

Him: "I bought $60 worth of crack tonight and only got one hit"

Me: "That sucks (thinking; not another crack head)".

Him: "But it was worth it, as soon as she smoked she got completely naked"

He proceeded to tell me about his crack head life and the crack whores he obviously knows quite well. I have no respect for these people and he thought he was king shit because some crack whore he paid got naked for him. Lethbridge Alberta

Hooker gives herself an orgasm.

Suspicious Death

There was some action at the XXXXXX Bar tonight. At first there was an ambulance and two police cars. After the ambulance left the CSI van was on the scene. I believe it was the CSI van, it was an unmarked van and the last time I saw it was on the scene of the homicide on 5th Avenue North earlier this year. Later in the night a hearse was on the scene so I assume that someone had died.

If there were a homicide or suspicious death it does not surprise me at all that it happened at the XXXXXXs. What a scuzzy bar.

Asshole Drunk XXXXXX Gets His Beer Back

I pick up this XXXXXX couple from a house party and they want to go downtown.

Me: "Where downtown"?

Him: "Don't matter eh"

Me: "Ok downtown anywhere it is"

We arrive downtown and I pull over into a parking spot.

I should also mention today was welfare check day and the streets were lined with drunken XXXXXX, especially around the Lethbridge XXXXXX store area on 6th ave and 5th st.

Him: "this is to heat score, take us to the XXXXXX eh"

Me thinking: for fucks sakes, this is too heat score for you and the XXXXXX is not?

I drive two blocks to the XXXXXX and stop.

Him: "too much heat still eh, pull into the alley"

Me: "I don't think so, that will be $15.80"

She pays me and they get out and walk into the alley behind the XXXXXX. I looked in the back seat and he left a nearly full beer on the seat, just waiting to spill. He was pissed off I would not take him into the alley and I assumed he had intentionally left it there so when I drove off it would spill all over the place. I was upset at this point and grabbed the beer and drove down the alley and threw the beer at him and drove off. I guess what was meant for my back seat is now on your fat ass girlfriend you piece of shit.

My next call was to the XXXXXX which I declined because I was not about to go back there.

Random

I received a call a couple of houses away from where a local transvestite lives. I arrive and 4 guys get in and are having a good time and heading off to the bar.

After some initial conversation I start driving and this is what was said;

Me: "So how do you feel about living so close to a transvestite?" (I have no idea what prompted me to say that and I admit it was a weird thing to say to someone you have never met)

Guy in the back seat: "What?, turn the radio off, did you hear what he just said? Say again what you just said!"

Me: "Yeah he lives lives a couple houses away from you, I was just wondering if you knew who he was, apparently the Alberta Government is subsidizing his "penis getting cut off" surgery because of his well being and what not."

Guy in the back seat: "Man that is so fucked up, thanks for sharing that story."

Another guy: "I was at a rave in BC a few weeks ago when some chick came up from behind me and put her hands around my hips and grabbed my cock. I was amazed and was dancing with her. I turned around and it was a guy in drag. I almost punched him out right then and there." He then mentioned "I thought about it and I was in his territory (the rave) and if I had beat him up then I would be the one who was frowned upon."

I heard a couple other tranny stories on our way to the bar and it was quite entertaining for all of us. What a weird cab ride. I do not normally instigate that type of conversation but I just could not resist and they seemed like the type that would accept my comment for what it was worth.

I love the dogs more than I love her.

It is strange how I try to remember my night fare by fare and adventure by adventure but often weird stories slip through my mind.

I went to an address on the North side tonight and this guy comes out and gives me a $100 and asks for $80 back. I comply and he says "I am sick of this shit, I am tired of paying for cab rides, get this bitch to where she has to go and $20 should cover it because she is only going near the hospital" and blah blah blah. I ask him what is going on and he says "I love the dogs more than my girlfriend and if she doesn't like it she can fuck off". I waited a few minutes with $20 in my hand when a woman comes to the cab carrying one puppy and another following her and tells me "we worked out our shit and I am so sorry for wasting your time, please give me $10 and keep the other ten for yourself".

I agreed and went on my way.

Random

It either pisses me off or makes me laugh depending on the mood I am in. I can not understand how a person will call for a cab, wait for the cab, get in the cab and then ask me (the driver) "what are you up to tonight?" What the fuck do you think I am up to. I am clearly not riding a bike or watching a movie now am I?

Friday Night

Some random events;

I flagged four young women from a sports bar and they were off to a nightclub, which happened to be featuring Method Man and Redman. Right from the start of the trip the girls start telling each other about when they got their first period. One girl was like "I was barely 11 when I got my first one", and another girl said "you two have me beat I didn't get mine until I was fourteen". Then one says something like "when I started getting pubic hair and armpit hair I didn't know what to do so I asked my mom and she told me to shave it off". I was grinning big time because it was awkward conversation. I wanted to chat with these good looking young woman but what was I going to say? I should have said something like "you girls all have me beat, I still haven't gotten my first period". On second thought I am glad I didn't say that. The woman in the passenger seat noticed my grin and jokingly put her hands over my ears.

Do women often talk about the first time they had a period. Not likely. It would be like the boys hanging out talking about when we got our first boners (not that we care or even remember). I thought it was very strange.

........................................................................................................................................................................

I picked up a group of people from the University of Lethbridge. One of the girls gets in and sits beside me in the front middle seat.. We were waiting for her friends when she commented on my glasses. We exchanged glasses to see who's eyesight was worse. I told her my contact lens prescription was -6.00 and she told me hers was -4.00. She said "wow 2 point difference" and sounded genuinely amazed. She was flirting with me a bit until her friends came out. Once her friends were in the car and we were on the way to the pool hall she starts going off about her porno fetishes. This is my recollection of what she said "I like the rape porn, no I mean like the fantasy rape porn not the real rape porn. I also saw this one and the woman walks into the butcher's market and the woman fucks the guy in front of a dead cow, it was weird but it really turned me on. I am just so sick of the regular porn, the only time I can stand the regular stuff is if there is at least anal." I think both her friends and I were amazed at what was coming out of her mouth.

During the trip she asks me "did you just touch my leg?", I said "no my hands are on the steering wheel" and she says "well I wish you had".

We get to where they are going and everyone gets out but her. She asks me a couple of questions and I tell her that I am taking a few classes at the University as well. She seemed amazed and told me "I would totally give you my number but I am getting a new phone tomorrow". So she starts telling me where all of her classes are and where I could find her at the University at different times.

It was kind of a weird trip, but then again she was kind of drunk.

........................................................................................................................................................................

My last trip of the night was a quiet one. I pick up this guy at 3:40 AM from a house I am familiar with. I have never seen this guy before and there is little conversation. All of a sudden a crime stoppers report comes on over the FM radio and this guy starts giggling. His giggles progressively turned into laughter. I asked him what was so funny. Because of the crime stoppers report I thought that maybe he was involved in the theft or knew who was. While he is still laughing he tells me that he didn't remember why he was laughing and he thought it had something to do with rabbits. I could tell he had been smoking weed. From the way he was laughing he probably ate a few mushrooms too.

Randon Rant

During my tenure as a taxi cab driver I have noticed that there are many women who work the streets and make money as prostitutes. During the past few months I have seen different girls come and go. I wonder why some of the prostitutes are not around anymore. I believe that they rely on the cash they receive for sexual favours to sustain their lifestyle. So why do they leave? Were they arrested? Do they move on to different cities? Did they die? Were they killed? Did they move on to a better life? Are they taking a break? Are they in rehab? I am genuinely curious why the women I have seen working the streets just disappear.

................................

I remember a couple of months ago six people were busted by an undercover police officer acting as a prostitute. Five of the six people's vehicles were impounded. I remember reading that the other guy posted a $27 thousand dollar bond in order to keep his vehicle (the value of the vehicle), it may have been a different amount. It amazes me how many people cheat on the ones they love the most. Whether they are married or not many of my customers are cheating on their loved ones.

.......................

I remember reading an article in the Calgary Sun September 14th, 2008 and from my interpretation and understanding of the article 4 young men got into a taxi. During the course of the ride an argument ensued and the cab came to a stop. The men took off on the taxi driver and for some reason the taxi driver decided to hit one of the kids and pinned him against a wall, killing him. That same night or the next day he took the bus to Edmonton, made a withdrawal from a bank machine, and has never been seen since. The crime happened in Calgary on September 11, 1998.

I searched the Internet looking for the article but could not find it. It should be out there somewhere, I gave up early on my search for it.

...................

I turned left, Northbound, onto Fifth Street South, from Six Avenue. I noticed another cab from my company parked in the West Parking area off the street. I witnessed someone walking away from the car (whether they were with him or not is indeterminable).

As soon as I pulled up right beside his cab a woman's face and upper body appeared. I originally pulled up beside his car because I wanted to chat with someone, preferably (at the time) someone I work with. As soon as I realize there is someone else in the cab besides the driver I drove off, which was immediately after seeing her. I should mention also that it was a very slow night and I figured the other cab driver would not have anyone with him, after hearing radio beeps and conversation.

I try not to impose on other peoples business but I wonder what that other cab driver was doing. I knew he was empty as far as the company was concerned. I was empty and was up for a trip second to him. He cleared before be and was next up for a trip (not a flag) nearest and next to him. Since he cleared before me and was in the same zone as I, he got the trip. I wonder if maybe he was getting a blow job from the XXXXXX woman who I saw in the passenger seat of his car. Maybe it was a friend of his. Perhaps it was his wife. Maybe it was a cash under the company table fare. Maybe it was nothing.

I doubt that he was of any relation to her and it was not his wife. I heard around the office that one of our older drivers was in the newspaper because he was caught by police with a prostitute (obviously doing something, and not referring to the previous paragraph). He is married as far as I know. I intend to find out when this happened and find the article. I need to know the approximate date that it happened though.

..........................

I pulled up to XXXXXX tonight and stopped somewhat in a crosswalk in front of a fire hydrant. It was not the best place to stop but the only place close to the front door to let off the "period girls". While one of the girls got out to ask if there was still a $45 cover a taxi from the same company as mine was parked in front of me. I guess he needed to leave and he probably figured there was no one behind him. I never hurts to look to make sure but he obviously did not and backed into me hard. Well it wasn't that hard but hard enough to cause a little bit of damage (a couple of cracks in the front bumper of my car that I noticed later). We both got out and looked at the damage and there appeared to be none. After further inspection under light I was able to determine that there was a couple minor cracks in the bumper. Whether they were there before or not I can't say for sure.

The girls were all excited and kept saying they were in a hit and run (even though they were not). I ended up taking them to a different bar because sure enough ZZZZZZ was still charging huge cover for there Method Mad/Redman show. I picked up a couple fares after the show tonight and the first fare was really impressed with the show while the second said it was great but they were pissed off because they never came on until 1:20AM. I heard from them that the opening acts finished 1hour before Methodman kicked off his performance. I think that is probably just the bar wanting people to stay and buy more drinks.

Friday/Saturday Night

I have so many things running through my mind about the last couple of nights. Here is a random recollection of my weekend.

I got a flag Friday night at the Lethbridge XXXXXX on my way to the XXXXXX bar. I took it because the XXXXXX is the last place I like to go. I do not understand why some drivers sit there all night. Sure they might get a flag here and there but I don't think it is worth the hassle of severely drunken old fuckers with a chip on there shoulder, or crack whores.

The trip I ended up flagging was a drunk older man and a hooker. I mise well have went to the XXXXXX. So the hooker tells the guy that they cannot go to her place at the Lethbridge XXXXXX because the front desk clerk would not let them. They ask me where they can find a cheap hotel and they decide on the second scuzziest hotel in town to do there business - the XXXXXX Inn.

We arrive at the XXXXXX Inn and the hooker changes her mind and decides she wants to go somewhere classier. I drive them across the street to the XXXXXX Lodge. The hooker goes in and asks if they have any rooms available. She came back to the car and said "they have one non-smoking room available but we can still smoke in it, go pay for it, and I told him you were my husband". As the guy is stumbling into the lobby she yells again "tell them you are my husband".

I can see the guy at the front desk in clear view and he is stumbling around and dropped something on the floor, while picking up whatever it was he dropped he lost his balance and fell on the floor.

This is the conversation between the hooker and I after he fell to the ground.

Hooker: Do you think he can get it hard?

Me: I don't know he seems pretty drunk

Hooker: Have you ever seen me before?

Me: I think so... (and turned around to get a better look)

Hooker: Don't look at me

Me: You asked me if I have ever seen you before and I needed to look at you to answer the question

Hooker: Oh, I guess you're right

Me: (After looking at her) You look familiar but I am not sure if I have seen you before

Hooker: I am a drug addict

Me: (I was about to say something when she interrupted me)

Hooker: No, I mean I am a good drug addict, you know?

Me: No I don't know

Hooker: I try to be a good drug addict, I don't fuck with people.

The guy comes back to the car and tells the hooker that his credit card was declined on the $250 deposit. The hooker decides they should go back to the XXXXXX Inn. She demands that the guy give me $20, which he did. This time they both went into the hotel and I could see them at the ATM machine. They were both fumbling around for a while. There was a woman waiting to use the machine and she eventually gave up because they were taking so long.

During this time a guest or staff member walked outside and was talking to someone else and said "there is that hooker again", I smiled at her because I think she knew I heard her because my window was open.

The couple came back to the car and wanted me to take them to an XXXXXX bank because his bank card was not working. We get to the bank and I am instructed to go through the drive through. The guy gives the hooker his bank card and tells her his pin number. She tries the pin and tells him it didn't work. He tells her again and she tries the same number. Apparently the bank machine ate his card and was not going to give it back. I really do not know if that was the case or not. The machine could have ate his card, or maybe the hooker stole his card, knowing his pin number.

The hooker decides she wants to go the XXXXXX near by and I take them there. Throughout the entire trip the guy was telling the hooker how happy he was to have met her. The hooker at one point told me that he had waited for hours outside of her hotel room for her to come back outside.

Once at the XXXXXX the hooker raided this guys pockets for money. Literally putting her hands into his pockets trying to find money. The drunk old man was not capable of doing it himself. She found enough money to pay me for the rest of the fare and told the guy "I have to get out of here, I have to leave, blah blah blah", and she got out of the cab and walked off. I am sure at some point he had given her what she would have earned had they gotten a hotel room.

The guy told me he had nothing left and I decided I would drive him back downtown for free because I felt he had gotten ripped off pretty bad and I already was paid $30 for the trip. The guy tells me he is staying above the XXXXXX. I laughed so hard inside. I wonder if the hooker actually stole his bank card and had a night out on the town on this unlucky guy's buck.

That was a long description of a trip, here are a few short ones;

I flagged a trip from the XXXXXX Garden. A man and women get in. The trip is normal until the guy starts freaking out apparently about the girls boyfriend. He starts saying things like "what are you going to tell mike", "what if he finds out", etc. It was quite clear that the woman was cheating on her boyfriend.

Strange coincidence.

I pick up a fare at the XXXXXX Hat, a local strip club and 5 large men get in and tell me "we have to get out of here before the cops come". They seem alright and I start driving to the address. Trying to listen to what seemed to be four different loud conversations at once it was clear that someone got there ass kicked. Later on in the night I picked up a few students, while dropping the last one off she tells me how her friend was beat up pretty bad and described the guys that did it. The description fit to a tee about the guys I had driven earlier.

I ended up driving these guys twice tonight and had no problems at all, in fact out of the two trips they tipped me a total of $43 on a total of a $60 combined fare. I know for a fact that at one of the drops I had they are running an illegal poker game 4-5 nights a week.

Cops were out everywhere tonight. I actually hit my brakes hard once because I thought someone was trying to cross a crosswalk. I turned out it was two police officers standing at the crosswalk with a radar gun. I was pissed off. Don't stand in a crosswalk, go somewhere else.

A couple of students did not really know where they lived and were giving me shitty directions. I had to stop hard once and pull a u-turn when one of them says "are you trying to make me puke"? I said "no, but if you knew where you lived or gave me some notice about where I need to turn it would be less stressful on your stomach".

I was driving down Mayor Magrath at maybe 3am and cruising along at about 70km's per hour. The speed limit is 60km's per hour when I see this guy starting to walk very close to the road. I let off the gas but was not about to brake because this guy was with his friends and I figured they would not let him wander into traffic. He came so very close to being hit by me but never actually walked onto the road until I had passed him. I had a flashback about when I hit a guy onetime. I will not ever post that story.

All I want to say is not cool man, I have no justification for slamming on my brakes and putting my passengers at risk of harm due to your fucking stupidity or practical joke. I have noticed that approximately 85% of people who get in my cab do not wear their seat belts. That is an astonishing figure and I think people really should be more consciences about putting on a seat belt. Anything can happen.

Well I think I have said enough.

$175 Out of Town Fare

I got a call to a gas station at 12:15am Saturday night. I arrive and this young man in a security uniform gets in the cab. In fact I remember specifically that he was in a XXXXXX Security uniform. He tells me he needs to get to Claresholm. I asked the dispatcher for the flat rate and he told me it was $175. I informed the guy that I needed the money upfront before I would take him there.

He tells me that he was in a car accident and the police had his vehicle towed and that he had forgotten his wallet in the car. I don't remember what I was thinking at this point but he made it quite clear that he had to get there. I asked if anyone he knew would give a credit card for me to pre-auth. He said his dad would and began calling him. He was speaking Arabic or something so I really do not know what he was saying. I gave him a pen and he writes down the credit card number.

I tried to process the card but it came back as invalid. I tried this same process with another card number with the same result. I should have known at this point that something was fishy. He continued talking with his dad or whoever it was on the phone and he seemed very relaxed. I think that because he was so relaxed it made me feel relaxed and that led me to make a nearly costly mistake.

We sat in front on the gas station for more than 20 minutes. Because the guy was so relaxed, and sober, I decided I would take the risk and drive him to Claresholm. This is something that I have never done before and if the payment was not received on the other end of the trip it would be a huge loss for me. Not only would I have to pay $91 out of my own pocket to the taxi company, I also would have to pay for the gas to get there and considering it was Saturday night at 12:30 I would miss much of the bar rush. I decided against my better judgement that I would take that risk.

I told the dispatcher I was taking him and off we went.

Once we finally got to Claresholm he tells me that his brother is working at the XXXXXX Convenience store and that he would pay for the trip. As soon as I stopped the car at the XXXXXX he bolted. He started running across the street. So many things were running through my mind at this moment. I was pissed right off and never should have trusted the fucker. My wheels were immediately screeching out of the gas station and I drove down the wrong way of the main street in town in hot pursuit of this piece of shit. Once there was a break in the median I got onto the right side of the road he was already across. I never let him out of my sight and caught up to him quickly. I was not about to drive back to Lethbridge without at least a pursuit, some action, maybe even some violence.

He sees that I am right behind him and starts running the other way. I pull a u-turn and had to get back on the main road. This time there was traffic and I had to wait for a semi and another vehicle to pass before I would make the left hand turn. With my heart racing, the tires screeching, and the engine roaring I was back in pursuit. He proceeded down an alley and I was right behind him when he suddenly gave up and put his hands on his knees briefly and then kept walking slowly down the alley.

I was irate and for a split second I considered hitting him with the car hard enough to knock him to the ground so I could get in a couple punches and get him into the trunk of the car. Man that seems like such a good idea after the fact. I pulled myself together and realized that was going to be my last option. Because I was already on the phone with the police I was trying to describe the best I could where I was. The guy gave up running and I pulled up beside him and gave him a piece of my mind. An RCMP officer responded in record time.

When I mean record time I mean record time. If you read this post http://canadiantaxi.blogspot.com/2008/07/stoned.html it took the Lethbridge City Police 45 minutes to respond when the police station and downtown core were only 30 seconds away. The RCMP officer in Claresholm responded within 30 seconds. I was very impressed.

I informed the officer what happened and confessed that I was an idiot to take the guy without money upfront and the officer put the guy in the back of the police car. While he was in the police car not more than 2 minutes later a XXXXXX Taxi pulled onto the scene. The driver got out and asked how much his brother owed. I said he owed me $175. Before I could finish my sentence the money was in my hand. He did not count it in front of me. I counted it and it was all there. The officer asked me if I was satisfied. I said I was and thanked the officer and the other cab driver.

I was soon back on my way to Lethbridge with the cash in my pocket and the experience of knowing why I always collect money upfront for out of town trips. I was eager to get back to Lethbridge in time to catch the end of bar rush. I genuinely believe that he had previously arranged with the other cab driver that I would be paid but decided he was going to bail on me anyway. My heart was still racing and the event was quite an adrenalin rush.

Random Laughter

I picked up a young man and two teenage girls late last night. The girls in the back seat were discussing how their night went amongst themselves.

I heard one of the girls say to the other girl "your dad told me that I have the upper body of a cheerleader". I laughed uncontrollably.

Friday Night

Tonight was a very busy night. During my eleven hour shift I probably sat around for half an hour in the office doing nothing. The bars were very busy tonight. It did not seem to matter where I went I was able to flag a trip. The line up at XXXXXX was nearly out to the street by 9:30pm. The XXXXXX was busy throughout the night. The XXXXXX got busier later in the evening as XXXXXX died down a bit.

Everyone seemed quite tame tonight. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. Only one of my customers tonight seemed like they had drank a little too much, which is quite surprising. Perhaps I am getting used to having drunk people around me and they are starting to seem sober to me.

I would say approximately 75% of my business tonight was comprised of students. Mostly University but some College students. I noticed an approximate increase of 30% in fares than the previous average of the four preceding Friday nights, which is significant. I had my second highest meter total tonight since I began driving January 1st of 2008. I had $503 on the meter. After student discounts and $59 gas I made out quite well. What I appreciate the most is that everyone was in good spirits, out having a good time, and I did not have a single problem with any trip.

The unusual thing about tonight is that I never saw or had to deal with any crack whores. To be honest I would much rather deal with honest students than fucked up crack whores. Tonight was a nice change and I am happy that the students are back and that I am back in school as well.

A random event from tonight:

I received a call to the XXXXXX Lodge tonight. I arrive at the hotel and ask the front desk clerk to call the room for me. She tells me there is no one staying in that room so I write off the trip until I get back to the car and realize that I am actually at the XXXXXX Hotel. I realized that I was at the incorrect hotel and proceeded to the correct hotel which was just a couple of blocks away.

While pulling away from the lobby this guy approaches me and asks me if there are any pawn shops or check cashing places open. The time is approximately 10:45pm on a Friday night and I told him "sorry buddy, but I think you are out of luck for the night". He tells me to hang on and we chat for a moment. He tells me that he is in desperate need of cash and has an Xbox 360 with three games, a wireless controller, an upgraded memory platform, as well as all the necessary cables. I do not need or really want an Xbox 360 and all that other stuff but ended up buying it off the guy for $70. I have not tried it yet to see if it actually works but it seemed like a good deal at the time.

Here is a picture...

The Students are Back....Yay!

The XXXXXX Bar was very busy tonight. Considering that all or most of the University and College Students are back I was not surprised.

I was at The XXXXXX at around 2:30am behind another cab. I watched as two men practically carry this guy out of the bar and place him into the cab in front of me. I thought to myself at the time "that guy is messed up". His "friends" put him into the cab and walked off to wherever they were going. So they left the complete drunken guy who could not walk on his own in the hands of the taxi driver.

I flagged a job immediately after and once finished my trip I decided to head back to XXXXXX to see if there were any more people. While entering the shopping area complex I notice the same cab driver that had flagged the job in front of me earlier. His passenger was hanging out the open door puking his guts out in front of the XXXXXX Convenience store.

I felt bad for the other cab driver but was quite happy that was not me having to deal with that guy.

Here is a photo of the aftermath. He spilled his guts out and the puke spread into the parking lot. GROSS!

My only explanation for actually taking a picture of this guys puke was complete boredom. It was after 3:00am and no one was around other than a couple other taxi drivers. The shear volume of the puke makes me very happy that I was not one cab up and had gotten this guy in my cab.

Saturday Night

Tonight started off fairly slow but from 11:00pm to 4:00am I was very busy. The following is a random recollection of my night.

I picked up this Italian Gangster type guy from a gambling hall. I went into the hall to get some desperately needed change and the barmaid said she was happy he was finally leaving and wished me luck.

He was wearing a nice black hat with a feather in it. He had tattoos and he fit the profile of an Italian Gangster. Chances are that he probably was not a gangster. I asked him where he was going and he said "down the street". I asked where down the street. In his thick accent he again says "down the street". So I drive him down the street and he says "do you know who I am" in a tone that I and everybody else should know who he is. I have never seen him before and said exactly that.

We arrive at his apartment and he says he needs to run in. In his front window was a large Italian Flag prominently displayed. I was looking around while we were at his place and he actually lived across the street from the Italian Hall. He comes back in and tells me to drive. No address, no directions, just drive. He had a wad of bills so who was I to complain about not having an address. He finally says where he wants to go and he changed his mind right away. He asked me to pull over so I did. He got mad that I pulled over too soon. So I went forward and around the side of the building and some how was directed into the alley behind the Coalbanks. I do not like going into the alley behind the coalbanks during the day, never mind at night with some Italian Gangster wannabe. I should not say wannabe because he did fit the profile that I have gathered from Films about what a mobster should look and act like.

So we drove down the alley twice and he directs me back to the place where I picked him up from. After all that his fare was only $6.40. He gave me $40 and asked for $5 back. I gave him $5 and he went back to the place where I picked him up. I bet that bartender was pissed right off that he was back. She was so happy to get rid of him the first time. This guy had me a little worried during the trip and he ended up leaving me with a $28.60 tip, whether he knew it or not.

...................................................................................................

I flagged a trip from a bar tonight and they were not going far. The fare was $5.20 when we got to a late night diner. The man in the front seat was planning on paying for it and got out of the car to look through his pants. In the meantime a woman in the back seat gives me $7 and tells me to keep the change. I thank her and she and her friend got out. The guy then picks up $20 he dropped on the ground. He threw the $20 in the cab and closed the door. Well THANK YOU VERY MUCH. $21.80 tip on a $5.20 fare. Sometimes I just love drunk people.

.........................................................................................................................

I was informed tonight that the police were looking for an injured person around such and such address. Of course I am curious and had a little time to head over there. It turned out it was a major collision and a possible rollover. Two moving vehicles were involved and no doubt a couple of parked cars. When I pulled close to the scene the police were driving through an empty field looking for one of the drivers that took off from the scene. Likely the driver that fled was drunk.

Speaking of drunk drivers I picked up two people tonight that had gotten 24 hour suspensions. The first lady was a mother of two and was completely pissed off. The other guy said he blew a 1.07 and because he was friendly and made the officers laugh they had let him off with a 24 hour suspension rather than a DUI. This guy was very happy the cops had not busted him with DUI, even thought he blew over. I picked him up from the Police Station.

I have to ask myself this question... is the allowable blood alcohol content in a person operating a motor vehicle .08 or is it 1.08. I can not believe this guy got off. He told me he blew over three times and they let him go home with a 24 hour! I wonder if the person who had caused the major accident I mentioned earlier had blew a 1.07 if he would have gotten off. Probably not. I was happy to see a couple check stops out tonight. It definitely brings in more business. I think the police should have more random check stops than they do.

.......................................................................................................................................

I had a call to a tattoo parlour tonight that I passed on because the last couple times I picked up there the lady was seeing people who were not there. No thanks! Next trip please.

I noticed tonight that there were lots of new students in town. I am attending XXXXXX as well and I am definitely looking forward to someone puking in my car or doing something completely stupid and me sitting beside them in class and saying "remember me" and "what the fuck were you thinking", etc. LOL. I hope somehow I get a kick out of this gig.

Crack Whores Bastard Children in Action

Maybe the title of this post is a little off.

So I pick up this XXXXXX guy from the XXXXXX bar. That's right, the dreaded XXXXXX bar. He informs me he is going to a certain address that I am familiar with and have taken the owner (renter) there on multiple occasions. The guy that lives in this place is a SEVERE alcoholic and the guy I was driving seemed sober. I have never had problems there and if this guy was his friend I trusted the fare would be paid. I hate asking for money upfront because it makes the situation tense and the ride uncomfortable.

By asking for money upfront you are pretty much saying that you do not trust the person at all.
I will post more about asking for money up front some other time. I do hate getting ripped off.

He was limping when I picked him up and I asked him why eventually, when he said he was walking down 13th st N, around 23 ave N, when someone pushed him to the ground from behind and he was beaten by several people. "Wow" I thought, and asked "Do you know who attacked you?" He proceeded to tell me how he was defending himself and trying to protect his face when a knife was pulled. He said he tried to kick the knife out of the persons hand as he lay on the ground but before he knew it he was stabbed in the leg.

He said the next thing he knew was that he was in the hospital. He later mentioned that it was the 504 gang that had attacked him. I have never heard of any sort of gangs here, never mind one called the 504. He said they were a group of XXXXXX teenagers, hence my quick judgement in the title.

He informed me the doctor said that he was lucky to be alive and that the knife could have easily cut through the main artery in his leg.

So anyway I should have asked for money upfront from this guy because he never paid me. We went to an ATM machine which said his card was invalid. GREAT. I am now the proud owner of this guys wallet and contents, which of course are completely worthless to me.

I have recently bought a digital camera and have no problem posting his face in shame on my little blog if I do not receive payment.

I Can Run Faster Than You

I picked up 5 teenage XXXXXX girls from the movie theater. We stopped at a liquor store and only one of them was 18 so she bought the liquor. We proceed to a ghetto part of town and they never really told me the address. I figured there were five of them and someone was going to pay me.

We arrive in front of a bunch of four and six-plexes and as they are getting out of the car one of the girls says "my mom is going to pay for the ride". Then all five girls take off running. Without hesitation I pursued and chased them around a few buildings and caught up to one of the girls.

I grabbed her arm and then wrapped her purse around my wrist. I told her to stop running and she complied. Dispatch phoned me on my cell and asked what was going on. I requested the police to come. I was a little lucky and caught the only one that was actually 18 and could be charged. I led her back to the cab, put her purse in the trunk, and told her to sit in the back of the cab. I sat in the front and waited for the police to arrive.

While waiting for police she gave me a sob story about how she didn't know her friends were going to do that and she was sorry. She was crying when the police officer arrived. I did feel bad for her because I felt she was telling the truth. With the cab company I work for I have to pay for 52 percent of the fare on the meter whether I actually get paid or not. So it is a huge loss not to receive payment.

I told the officer my story and showed him the price on my meter. He asked her a couple questions and proceeded to take her to every door at the six-plex in an attempt to collect my money. He eventually came back from the side of the building and told me a good Samaritan had decided to lend her the money for the cab fare.

I thought about it later that it was after 12:15am and maybe it was the police officer who lent her the money because I doubt that anyone in those apartments would have. I am pretty sure that the girls did not even live at that building.

Some friends you have/had.

Trailer Park Trash

I picked up a man and woman from a trailer park and the guy was bragging to me about how nice his 1980 something jaguar was. I thought it was a piece of shit but never said it. He informed me they were going down to the XXXXXX. The XXXXXX happens to be, in my opinion, the worst scum bar hotel in town.

During the ride the guy is complaining about how expensive the ride is and asks his girlfriend/wife "how many tricks ya gotta pull to pay for this". I really could not tell if he was joking or was serious.

While on a stop for him to get a pack of cigarettes the woman tells me "you know that he goes around the park and pisses on other peoples lawns to mark his territory". I have heard a lot of wierd things but that one is up there. He pisses of other peoples lawns to mark his territory? Wow. She was so serious when she said it that I have no doubt there was some truth to the story.

When we get to the shady bar he throws a $20 at me and barks about how expensive the ride was. At least he didn't mark his territory in or on the cab.

Cab driver takes a rider to the police station after rider refuses to pay fare. Funny!

Having been ripped off by customers myself I just love this story.
